The 92-year old Yerevan State Medical University (YSMU) of Armenia offers Graduation and Post Graduation courses in various disciplines of medicine for students meeting acceptable norms of eligibility. More than 2,000 Indian students are studying currently in YSMU, while several thousands of them have graduated successfully from YSMU in the past few years.

YSMU offers affordable medical education for aspiring young students between the age group 18 – 28. The Under Graduate degrees include MD (Doctor of Medicine), BDS, B PHARM and the degrees covered under Post Graduation are MD / M S, MDS, M PHARM & MPH. YSMU is also part of the Bologna Process which was signed by Education Ministers from 29 European Countries allowing students to transfer semesters between European universities. YSMU Courses are recognised internationally and also by Medical Council of India, Medical Council of Great Britain and affiliations with many medical universities in USA as well. YSMU isa member of European Medical Congress and is listed in the World Health Organization (WHO) Directory of Higher Medical Institutions, a recognition richly deserved.

Addressing a press conference, Jalandhar, CEO, Edulife Abroad, stated that “Education in Armenia is funded by the government and this makes it possible for the various educational institutions to invest in state-of-the-art infrastructure, incorporating latest technologies. The low population of Armenia coupled with vast infrastructure allows good number of overseas students to study at YSMU. High quality faculty and a healthy regard for Indians in particular add to the reasons for studying at YSMU. Students with even average scores are also eligible to apply, unlike many other institutions across the globe. Yet the alumni of YSMU have done consistently well in all countries including UK, USA, Germany, Canada etc.”

The University has more than 15 specialised clinical hospitals where students are well trained in practical terms. They have eight scientific laboratories where about 300 scientists carry out research in various medical disciplines.

The medical library is one of the richest libraries of the republic. The Cost per annum for pursuing a UG and PG course is approx Rs 2 lakh and 3 lakh respectively. The duration is 6 years for UG and 1.5 – 4 years for a PG course.
