There are bright oranges and lime greens, accompanied by shades of ocean blue, sunny yellow, fuchsia and turquoise. The burst of colour is Furla’s first step into Chennai, with the handbag brand showcasing its Spring/Summer ‘13 collection for its launch.

Launched at the Luxxe Box showroom at Express Avenua Mall, the collection the high-end luxury brand has put together for Chennai consists of a wide variety of handbags, clutches and accessories. There are brightly coloured chester-shaped ‘scoop’ bags and sling bags that can be used for informal occasions.

The focal point of Furla’s collections is the ‘Candy bag’, a line of formal, luxury bags that one can take to a business lunch or meeting. Semi-transparent and brightly coloured, the Candy bags are one of Furla’s signature lines. “The bags are made of rubber silicon with hints of leather. Some bags have a leather base, others have handles made of leather. The bags are sleek and something one would use for formal occasions if you need a pop of colour,” says Naina Chandani, store director of Luxxe Box.

A dominating factor in the Italian brand’s collection is the bright, cheerful colours. Candy pink, summery yellow, tangerine orange — you name it. Even the black formal bags have a touch of colour on them.

Apart from classy scoop bags and totes, Furla has a range of clutches that one can use for parties et al. “Pair a coloured clutch with formal evening wear and you’re ready to go. You don’t need anything else,” says Naina.
