Technical employees observe hunger strike

The Federation of Tamil Nadu Technical Employee Associations (FTNTEA) observed a one-day hunger stir here on Friday, pressing a charter of demands including pay on par with Central government employees. The federation pointed out that technical employees with equivalent educational qualification who had joined the teaching services at the ITIs were drawing more pay and getting promotion, whereas those joining any of the State departments continued to serve in the same post without promotion for about 30-35 years until retirement.
