Kalasams, pooja articles stolen from two temples in Ayappakkam, Avadi

Burglars struck in two temples near Thirumullaivoyal and Avadi stealing six kalasams and other valuables in the wee hours of Tuesday.

Police said the first incident occurred in Sriramabaktha Anjaneya Temple in Tamil Nadu Housing Board Colony in Ayappakkam near Thirumullaivoyal where the thieves escaped with pooja articles and other valuables after forcing open its doors.

In another incident reported from Sridevi Chinnappan Temple in Shekkadu in Avadi, burglars looted three kalasams. Three more kalasams adorning another sanctorum of Vaidhyanadhar in the same temple were also stolen.

Woman Resists Chain Snatchers

Two chain snatchers, who arrived on a two-wheeler, could snatch only a portion of a six sovereign chain from a woman after she resisted them in Chembarambakkam near Tambaram on Tuesday morning.

Police said Rajeswari, wife of Kandasamy, who runs a grocery shop, was drawing ‘kolam’ when the duo tried to snatch her chain.

5 Vehicles Gutted in Fire in Porur

Four motorcycles and a car were gutted in a fire at Mangala Nagar in Porur in the wee hours of Tuesday.

Police said the incident occurred on Ramakrishna Street where the car of a resident caught fire and soon spread to the motorcycles. Fire tenders took about an hour to douse the flames.

`16.5K Stolen from Hardware Shop

Burglars looted `16,500 from a hardware shop, owned by one Sonam Gupta in the lake area of Maduravoyal early on Tuesday morning.
