CBSE results likely to be out in 4-5 days

Board official’s statement follows ambiguous comments earlier

It’s certainly not a good time to be a student who attempted the CBSE examinations this year. After endless speculation over the date of declaration of the results, compounded by the spread of rumours, they may have to wait for another 4 to 5 days at least to get their results.

Speaking to Express, Regional Officer of CBSE, Sudarshan Rao, said the students can tentatively expect the results within the next 4 to 5 days. He said that a prior announcement in this regard would be made on the board’s website. “This is however, tentative,” the official said. The official attributed the swirl of information on the issue to “endless and needless speculation.” “One must bear in mind that the CBSE has not made any announcement in this regard,” he averred.

The students may, after all, have ample reason to feel worried, as statements by officials on the issue isn’t proving to be of use. Not too long back, a senior CBSE official was quoted as saying that the results would be out on May 25. Adding to the ambiguity, CBSE Chairman Vineet Joshi was quoted in a recent interview saying, “Students can expect the results by the end of next week.” And then, there has been long-standing speculation that the results would be out on May 26, all this, in the midst of a lack of an official declaration.

The delay could be nerve-wracking for students in ways more than one. First, the results of other streams - State-board and ICSE - are already out. Admission processes are in full swing, although many institutions are extending deadlines for CBSE students. Moreover, class-12 results would have a bearing on admissions to top institutes - such as IITs and NITs to name a few.

Perhaps the views of Kashyap, who has attempted the exams this year, should sum up the sentiments of the students. “With each day, I am getting stressed over the results more than anything else. I just want the results out, even if it is poor,” said Kashyap.
