The Luz Avenue Association celebrated its silver jubilee on Saturday in the presence of Mayor Saidai Duraiswamy and MLA R Rajalakshmi. More than 100 residents of the locality organised and participated in the event, sharing stories about areas ranging Mylapore Naini Thottam to Luz Avenue.
One of the oldest residents living there recalled how the Nageshwara Rao Park, which was once Aarathakuttai (Bog pond) that was surrounded by paddy fields. The speakers also appreciated the efforts of K V Mathew, President of Luz Association and June Herlund, Secretary of Association for his efforts in creating the present Luz Avenue.
Mayor Duraiswamy, the chief guest, expressed his happiness on being a part of the celebrations and shared his wisdom on healthy living through healthy food habits.
“It is not only important to be surrounded by nature with trees and healthy environment. It is equally important to eat healthy and live with the nature,” he said.
