In a bid to inculcate Gandhian values in children, Sri R M Jain Vidhyashram, Tiruvallur, conducted a mass essay writing event on Gandhi Jayanthi, in which nearly 1,000 students participated.

The students were asked to write an essay on‘ Five values of Mahatma Gandhi which attracted me’.

Students from various schools participated in this event.  Each one of them was given a small token gift and a certificate of participation.  The event was organised to inculcate good values for which the father of our nation lived. N C  Sridharan, correspondent and the editor of the Tamil monthly magazine Vaname Ellai, addressed the students and spoke about Gandhi’s values.  He mentioned that even though Gandhi led a mass freedom movement and united all the Indians under one banner, when we got Independence, he did not opt for any position or power.

He advised the students to imbibe the qualities of Mahatma Gandhi so that they grow up to become responsible citizens.

The students also sang Gandhian and patriotic songs on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi.
