Expressing reservation over the lack of alleged coordination between the Registration and the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR and CE) departments, a forum has moved the Madras High Court, urging them to furnish copies of documents, deeds and details of property donated to Hindu temples in the State.

The International Sri Vaishnava Dharma Samrakshana Society has sought a direction in this regard for the protection and preservation of the property for posterity.

“The lack of coordination between the two departments is leading to lack of sharing of documents such as registration of property between them, which, in turn, leads to misuse of the property,” said society president Swami Govinda Ramanuja Dasa in the petition. He pointed out that there are nearly 38,000 temples in Tamil Nadu  under the control of HR and CE. A bench comprising ACJ R K Agrawal and Justice M Sathy anarayanan posted the matter for further hearing to Nov 4.
