The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) celebrated World Standards Day (Oct 14) to pay tribute to the collaborative efforts of the thousands of experts worldwide who develop agreements published as international standards. ‘International standards ensure positive change’ was the theme for this year’s World Standards Day.
Padma Bhushan Dr V Shantha, Chairman, Adyar Cancer Institute, was the chief guest of the function, delivered the key note address. “Standard and quality go along with each other. However the quality of standards in the country needs to be rejuvenated,” she said.
V Somasundaram, CGM (Construction), Chennai Metro Rail, presided over the meeting and mentioned the various standards observed by CMRL. M B Nirmal, Founder, Exnora International and Vinod Surana, CEO, Surana & Surana International Attorneys, also addressed the gathering.
