Suspecting the fidelity of his wife, a 32-year-old man allegedly strangulated her before stabbing his friend, at Koyambedu on Monday.

Suspecting the fidelity of his wife, a 32-year-old man allegedly strangulated her before stabbing his friend, at Koyambedu on Monday.

According to police, the relationship between Sudhakar (32), a petrol bunk employee and his wife Suganthi (27), had been strained for the past few days.

Sudhakar suspected Suganthi to be in an illicit affair with his friend Elangovan.The couple used to frequently quarrel over the issue. He also told her to maintain a distance with Elangovan.   On Monday also the couple entered into an argument over the issue. In the heat of the moment, Sudhakar strangulated her to death. Later, Sudhakar locked up the house and went to Elangovan’s house, a few streets away, and stabbed him, police said.

Elangovan raised an alarm and neighbours rushed him to a nearby private hospital, where doctors said his condition was critical.

Sudhakar later surrendered before the police.

Chain Snatched

Motorbike-borne thieves entered the premises of a government office building and relieved a woman employee of her six sovereign gold chain at Ayanavaram on Monday.

The incident happened at the Southern Railway Joint Office premises at Portugese Road, Aynavaram. According to police, unidentified burglars entered the premises and snatched a six sovereign chain from Santhi.

Loses Walkie Talkie

The walkie talkie of traffic special sub-inspector Koteeswaran attached to Triplicane traffic police was reported missing while he was on duty on Mount Road on Saturday. Sources said that during a vehicle check, Koteeswaran tried to intercept a speeding autorickshaw. Since the vehicle failed to stop, he reportedly gave it a chase. When he returned to his bike, he found the walkie talkie kept on it missing.
