Barely six months after music composer James Vasanthan was accused of harassing his neighbour and was arrested, his wife lodged a complaint against him at the Adyar All-Women Police Station on Friday evening. According to police sources, Suganthi, who claims to have been married to Vasanthan since 1991, complained in writing that Vasanthan has been carrying on illicit affairs with other women and is seeking legal recourse against him.
Vasanthan, who had been a popular talk show host and small screen jingle composer in the 90s shot to fame when music from his debut film Subramniyapuram topped the charts.
He has since earned acclaim for his scores and songs for award-winning films like Pasanga.
She also claimed his alleged affairs had been a constant source of argument between them and that she had left him a short while ago. However, she had not opted to pursue legal divorce or separation immediately.
Adyar Police said they would investigate the complaint further before filing charges, if any.
Some months ago, his neighbour in Kottivakkam had complained that he had harassed her, following which Vasanthan made a very public outburst. He was also arrested and kept in custody briefly before being released. His wife stood by him at that point of time.
