Who said brush strokes were only meant for a canvas? At Melange, an event organised by the Prakrit Art Gallery, a group of artists will push the boundaries of creativity by wielding the brush on unlikely objects. Think aluminum trunks, doors, metal handles, chairs and cupboards!
Meena Dadha, owner of the gallery, says, “We will have close to 14 artists coming from cities like Bhopal, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai of course, on February 11 and 12. They will work on the materials to come up with something very different from what art lovers have ever witnessed in the city.”
And if you’d like to see this makeover of sorts taking place, the gallery will be open to the public to come and take a look.
Also in the works this month is a ‘canvas shoe project’ for youngsters on February 14. Those above the age of 14 and are always tuning into the latest trends, can bring their shoes to find out how they can give them a fresh look.
Meena adds, “In this world of fast-moving trends, we thought about imparting a few techniques and hence came up with the idea of a workshop. Those enrolled in this workshop will be taught to paint shoes in a number of ways to transform the dull-old footwear to something totally new and fancy.”
Drab to fab, who can say no to that? Watch out for well-known artists like Shuvaprassana and Ilango dropping in for the fun as well.
Melange will be held at Prakrit Arts, 102, Greenways Road, RA Puram. For details, contact 24953969
