In two separate incidents, MTC bus conductors were assaulted by college and school students who also hurled stones and broke the glass windows of the buses.

On Thursday morning, a group of students of a government school travelling on an MTC bus near Aminjikarai picked up an argument with the bus conductor Kannan, who had questioned their unruly behaviour.

The students got into heated exchanges with the conductor Kannan and later assaulted him. Police said the students broke a glass window of the bus.

Based on Kannan’s complaint, Kilpauk police traced the students and took them to the police station for an enquiry. “But the parents of the students pleaded against  registering an FIR on them considering their young age. So we let them off with a warning,” said a police officer.

Similarly on Wednesday night, an MTC bus  near Motchan Theatre at Purasawalkam was attacked by a group of four youth who are suspected to be law college students. Police said the four suddenly entered the bus and assaulted conductor Jayakumar.
