Your Favourite Food Now in 90 Secs!

Craving for your favourite food while on the move? Atchayam’s Food Box, an innovative automated restaurant, does it for you.

Be it the sambar rice from Adyar Ananda Bhavan or biryani from Aasife, everything gets ready in 90 seconds!

At the Atchayam Food Box at DLF IT park and Koyambedu omni bus stand, customers can walk in and leave with the food in less than five minutes. With expansion plans in the offing, there is a chance that you might see them in your neighbourhood soon.

“We have got positive reviews for the two outlets in Chennai. DLF IT, where it has been operating for eight months, has been our first break. People are loving the service in Koyambedu as well. We will now expand our business to railway stations, airports, bus stations, highways and universities, and are aiming to become a leading global retail facilitator for food,” said Ramesh Narayanan, chief financial officer of Atchayam Food Box.

The restaurant has now joined hands with ticketgoose.com to enable people to book food online while booking their tickets.

Food Box, referred to as an intelligent restaurant by Satish Chamy Velumani, founder and CEO, serves food from the city’s favourite eateries to customers through a completely automated delivery mechanism. Customers get to choose their preferred restaurant along with their choice of food on easy-to-use touch screens. After they pay using credit or debit cards, food packages will be served hot to the customers on a conveyor belt in less than 90 seconds.

“It is a dream come true moment for us. This result is a result of three years of  hard work that we put in as a team. We have given the best of technology in a simple manner, thereby providing a unique experience by bringing multiple popular local restaurants under one roof,” said Velumani, at the official launch of the foodbox recently.

To enable people to use food box at public places like bus stand or railway station, they also have an option where people can pay money to the staff at the counter, who in turn provide them with a foodbox card that they can swipe to get the food.

The company has now tied up with six popular restaurants in the city like A2B, Aasife, Moti Mahalm Amaravathi and Kaaraikudi, and are in talks with many other leading restaurants too. The company plans to open six additional outlets by 2015 across South India.
