2 Share Auto Drivers Lift 36 Cells From Van

Two share auto drivers in their maiden attempt decamped with 36 mobile phones stored in a private courier van were arrested by the police.

CHENNAI: Two share auto drivers, who, in their maiden attempt decamped with 36 mobile phones stored in a private courier van meant to be delivered to customers, were arrested by the Koyambedu Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT) police, late Wednesday night.

The duo identified as Christopher aka Prabhu, (29) of Neelankarai and Senbakanathan aka Appu, (25), of Palavakkam, were intercepted during a vehicle check. All the mobiles stolen from the courier van, worth around `1.5 lakh, were recovered.

The courier delivery van, with the mobile phones, was parked unlocked at the bus stop at CMBT by the private courier firm staff who had stepped out for dinner.
