Applying College Experience to Life

CHENNAI: Learn to love reading; it opens the world of creativity, said Shambu Kallolikar IAS, Member Secretary, Sports Development Authority of TN, at the investiture ceremony of MOP Vaishnav College of Women’s students cabinet on Friday. “You believe in yourself,  nothing can stop you from achieving success. With that thought, everyone has the ability to progress in life once they set their goal and work persistently to achieve it,” he said. “Best friends,  good teachers and the best college help to build one’s spiritual makeup for the betterment of one’s life,” he added.

Touching upon various issues that plague the Indian subcontinent like hunger,  poverty, he emphasised that the experience of working as student council members will one day apply to the real world, where one would have to find solution to these problems.

For that, they had to fall back on the experience gained as student leaders, he said. Modelled along the lines of the union parliament, the student cabinet helps preparing the campus leaders for positions of greater importance in the future. The event saw one student prime minister, two deputy prime ministers, nine ministers, 11 deputy ministers and the 116 members of the student parliament assumed office, receiving their badges.
