CHENNAI: A criminal defamation case was filed against Rediff.com India Limited for carrying a news item about the health condition of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on its website on July 10.
City Public Prosecutor M.L. Jegan filed the criminal defamation case against R. Ramasubramaniam, Reporter, Rediff.com India Limited, Ajith Balakrishnan, CEO and Chairman Rediff.com and Nikhil Kashman, Editor-in-Chief Rediff.com and Abishek Mande, Senior Associate Editor, for the news item.
The case was filed before the Principal Sessions Court at Chennai which is expected to be taken on file soon.
