Soon, CCTVs Near Dumpyards

CHENNAI:  Following the massive fire at the dumpyard at Kannadapalayam near Tambaram last week, the Municipal Administration Department has taken steps to avoid recurrence of such incidents in future.  The measures include fixing of more number of streetlights, installation of CCTV cameras and fire-fighting equipment. The Municipal Administration Director has also directed that CCTV cameras be installed near dumpyards in all municipalities.

Fire broke out at the Kannadapalayam dumpyard on July 6 and the Municipal Administration department took immediate steps to put out the fire by engaging five fire tenders, 10 private water tankers, and supply of water from Mullainagar lake and three private wells.
