CHENNAI: A BSP municipal councillor was hacked to death by an armed gang at Avadi on Wednesday night.
The victim ‘Lion’ Murugan, a Bahujan Samaj Party member, was sitting in a car at Anna Nagar, a locality in Avadi, when the gang approached and picked up an argument with him. “ The moment hehe got down from the car, the gang surrounded and repeatedly hacked him. None of his friends or other locals could stop them,” said a police officer.
Murugan, who died on the spot was a resident of MRF Nagar near Avadi and was representing ward 36 of the Avadi Municipality. This is the second such murder of a BSP cadre in the last ten days.
