A party-packed evening saw actors and youngsters in stunning dresses and high heels, treating their senses to peppy music, delightful eats and an elegant fashion show, at the launch of the ‘House of Chase’ in Alwarpet on Sunday.
Designer Samyuktha Venkatachalam established House of Chase in 2014 in Chennai and the occasion was the launch of her new flagship store. When CE asked her why she named it House of Chase she said, “It was my dream to launch my brand and I was chasing that dream. That is why I decided to call it House of Chase —chasing dreams, chasing fashion and a glamourous, fun lifestyle.”
Speaking of glamour, celebrities like Jiiva, Daya, Shakthisree Gopalan and choreographer Kala were also present. Upbeat music by DJ Karty added to the fun vibe, getting people to move their body and sing along.
The event began with a showcase of the pre-winter collection for women 2015 on a T-ramp as the crowd cheered and applauded. “The collection is urban-inspired and elegant, yet effortless and comfortable. That means clothes that you can wear for train travel, to hop on a bus or for a workout session at the gym.
Although, on that note, nobody was thinking about a size zero figure with cheesy short eats and doughnuts doing the rounds. We sipped on pomegranate-ginger soft drink, a refreshing option for summer, to wash it all down. However was not the only thing that vanished quickly on Sunday night, so did Samyuktha’s clothes, which at reasonable prices had several purchases made on the spot.
What’s more, the designer also launched her book Where Will The Wild Flower Go? a collection of 68 poems spread over 99 pages. “This was another chase of my poetic dream and they are mostly in a feminist’s point of view,” she told us.
On a wild chase, Samyuktha also chose a few Chennaiite dreamers from various different fields and awarded them with prizes for their determined pursuit to achieve success. People like Thirush Kamini, the first women cricketer in India to score the fastest century, DJ Arjun from a band called Answer and RJ Navalakshmi were presented with awards for the pursuit of their own dreams.
The evening ended with camera flashes and hugs. Selfies and groupies were taken among friends and also a few celebs. After all, an event with friends, fun and lights is never complete without a photo session!
