CHENNAI: A Tamil website dedicated to latest news regarding the School Education Department of Tamil Nadu has started a discussion forum to facilitate mutual transfers between government teachers.

A total of nine entries on the forum on the website (pallikudam.com) have been made by various teachers working in districts like Cuddalore, Tiruvannamalai, Salem, etc., soliciting transfers. They have given their phone numbers as well.

According to official  sources, mutual transfers can be carried out if both parties submit a signed no-objection letter to the respective Chief Educational Officers (CEOs). “Earlier, if a government teacher in Madurai wanted a transfer to Tiruvallur, he would have to travel a long distance and then look out for someone through social circles. The other way out was asking around during a teachers meeting. This website simplifies that ordeal to a great extent,” said a government school teacher who has already received three requests after putting up his name on the website.

Welcoming the initiative, activists, however, opined that since it involved transfers of government servants, it should ideally be handled only by the government.
