CHENNAI: A 30-year-old man was arrested on Sunday for allegedly attempting to marry a third woman, based on a complaint from his first wife.
According to All-Women Police Station personnel in Washermanpet, Salim Ahmed from Pulianthope, an employee of a private company, married Gulnath in 2010. The couple has a four-year-old daughter.
Following a tiff, Gulnath lodged a complaint in the All-Women Police Station in September 2014 and later filed a case in a family court in Chennai. While investigating her complaint, police found out that Salim had married another woman in September, days before his first wife lodged the complaint.
“We found out that the second wife left him after differences between them. However, on Sunday, Gulnath alerted us about his arrangements for a marriage with another woman at a community hall in Triplicane. We caught him around 11.30 am, a few minutes before his marriage,” police added.
