CHENNAI: City police on Wednesday arrested a realtor who allegedly abducted a 34-year old man from Kodungaiyur after the latter defaulted repayment of loan to the tune of Rs 27 lakhs.
According to police, the realtor, identified as Sachin Kumar, had given several lakhs in loan to one Kamal Hassan, a resident of Kodungaiyur running a whole sale iron business. On Tuesday morning, Kamal Hassan’s mother Leelavathi received a phone call wherein the caller threatened to kill Hassan if the family did not pay Rs 27 lakhs. Immediately a police complaint was lodged. A friend, who had accompanied Kamal Hassan, informed police that a gang visited Kamal ’s office and whisked him away in a car. Further interrogations revealed the conspiracy police laid a trap and arrested Sachin and his men besides rescuing Kamal from a hideout in Sriperumbudur.
