Professor at IIT-M Launches Novel on Bhopal Gas Tragedy

CHENNAI: It was quite a literary affair at the Industrial Consultancy & Sponsored Research auditorium at IIT Madras campus on Tuesday. Swarnalatha Rangarajan, english professor from the Humanities and Social Sciences department at the institute, launched her latest novel, Final Instructions. Swarnalatha, a Fulbright scholar at Harvard University, has had her short fiction stories featured in Zubaan’s 21 under 40, Penguin’s First Proof, South Asian Review, India Currents, New Asian Writing and Asia Writes.  Her latest novel throws light on the consequences faced by victims of the Bhopal disaster. The book launch was presided over by IIT Director Bhaskar Ramamurthy and Mei Kwei Barker, Director of British Council, South India.  Professsor K Srilata, a poet and novelist, read the first few pages of the book.
