TIRUCHY, CHENNAI : Thousands of DMK cadre, politicians and locals participated in the funeral procession of DMK stalwart Ko Si Mani, held at his hometown Meikirimangalam near Kuthalam. 
The veteran leader passed away at a private hospital in Kumbakonam on Friday night due to age-related illness.


The body was brought to his hometown in a decorated vehicle on Saturday evening where the residents paid their tributes. 


DMK head M Karunanidhi, in a statement, recalled his decades-long association with Ko Si Mani in building the party and how Mani had been his vociferous supporter. DMK treasurer M K Stalin, who was guided by the veteran, also paid his last respects.


PMK founder S Ramadoss, TNCC chief Thirunavukkarasar, CPI State secretary R Mutharasan and VCK president Thol Thirumavalavan condoled the death. The body was cremated in the village, late in the evening.
