Plea Filed in HC to Shift Students from SVS College

Due to the ever increasing difficulties and the college management's arrogance, three students died on January 22.

CHENNAIi: A writ plea has been filed in Madras High Court for a directive to authorities to transfer students of the sealed SVS Naturopathy and Yoga Medical College in Chinnasalem, Villupuram district to the Government College of Naturopathy and Yoga Science, Arumbakkam, Chennai, to continue his studies.

Justice R Subbiah, before whom the petition from S Ravi Kumar of Madurai, the second year student of the college, came up on Tuesday, ordered notice to the authorities concerned returnable in two weeks.

The college was sealed following the mysterious deaths of three women students on January 22.

The petitioner submitted that he joined the BNYS degree course in SVS college in 2013 with the bona fide belief of becoming a doctor, even though the institute did not have the necessary faculty and other facilities.

Due to the ever increasing difficulties and the college management's arrogance, three students died on January 22. Since the college has been sealed, the students lost the opportunity of continuing their studies and their future had become uncertain. Meanwhile, the TN Dr MGR Medical University was finalizing the exam schedule.

Hence the petitioner prayed for a directive to the authorities to arrange for the internal and practical examinations and to allow the petitioner to continue his studies either after Government taking over of the SVS College or by issuing special orders permitting him and other students to continue their education at the Government College of Naturopathy and Yoga Science at Arumbakkam, Chennai.
