Minor Tiff Between DMK MP, Minister

During foundation stone laying ceremony for the third line between Tambaram and Chengalpattu, a tiff erupted between MP Tiruchi Siva and Minister TKM Chinnayya.

CHENNAI: During the foundation stone laying ceremony for the third line between Tambaram and Chengalpattu, a minor tiff erupted between DMK Rajya Sabha MP Tiruchi Siva and State Minister of Animal Husbandry TKM Chinnayya.

Speaking on the occasion, Siva said he earmarked `91 lakh under Member of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) scheme for an escalator at Tiruchirapalli Junction, which was being inaugurated by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu through video conferencing at Chennai on Sunday.

Alleging that there was miscommunication by the railway administration on shifting the inauguration venue from Tiruchy to Tambaram, Siva claimed he was not informed and is contribution for installing the escalator was not highlighted.

Later, in his address Minister Chinnayya referred to a popular Tamil adage ‘Murpagal seyin pirpagal vilayum’ (One has to bear the brunt of past actions). An upset Siva had an argument with the Minister, but the heat dissipated in a minute.
