After Cardiac Arrest, Bus Driver Dies

CHENNAI: A driver of a TNSTC bus on Thursday died in the city after suffering a cardiac arrest while driving. The 15 passengers, travelling in the Kancheepuram-bound bus, would have to thank their stars as the driver, S Sarveswaran (53), parked the vehicle to safety on Poonamalee High Road near the Maduravoyal market on time.

Police said the driver, a native of Kancheepuram, had complained of uneasiness to the bus conductor and immediately parked the vehicle to safety, mindful of the passengers in the bus.

The conductor, with the help of passengers, moved Sarveswaran to a nearby private hospital. He was later shifted to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
