After a successful stint in the restaurant business, Arun P Bacthavatsalam and Vickram Srinivas, franchise owner and owner of Tovo canteen, Anna Nagar, have stepped up their tryst with food with yet another outlet of Tovo canteen, an upscale restaurant in Besant Nagar. Inaugurating their next venture with support from friends and family, the man behind the concept of Tovo, Arun was visibly excited about their next step. He said, “Besant nagar is a destination spot and we wanted to create more awareness about healthy food and the brand itself. We care about serving people what they want and having an opening here is perfect.”
The lights, the different levels in the restaurant and music set the mood for anyone who wishes to eat healthy food in a cozy ambience. “We cater to everyone. It can be a coffee shop, a relaxing lounge or a place to unwind with food and friends,” said Vickram.
Talking about his acquaintance with Arun, Vickram said, “When Arun showed me the concept for the first time, it was an instant click. Now our journey has extended from Anna Nagar to Besant Nagar.” Tovo offers a wide variety of delicacies that are cooked in its own moisture, making it a unique experience. “We make sure that the food is rich and healthy without using external agents,” shared Arun.
Their main aim was to start a venture that has less wastage (after delivering food to customers). Tovo infuses flavors with the natural moisture, thus cutting down wastage of food. “When food is natural there are no flaws and people don’t tend to waste it,” shared Arun. “Customer wastage in Tovo is only 8 to 8.5% which is low,” he added.
With more customers interested in the process of how food is made, Tovo concentrates on making the right menus that satisfy their interest. “Customers can choose their base, and there are various options for the type of flavour they want to indulge in. We make sure that our customers enjoy the process of making food,” said Vickram.
How has the response been so far? “Brilliant!” exclaimed Vickram. “We have received over 120 calls from the public in the last three days about this new outlet at Besant Nagar, even before its opening. This shows how much our brand has reached out,” he explained.
Famous for providing contemporary food with an Indian twist to it, Tovo is also going to be a player in the International market very soon. “We will be opening one more outlet in OMR. Later, we are planning to move to the international arena,” added Arun.
