After Deadpool Learnt Tamil, He Visits Marina and Rides Auto

CHENNAI: As if Deadpool speaking Tamil on the silver screen last week wasn’t enough, the quick-witted, quip-throwing superhero has been spotted across Chennai — in memes showing him at various places in the city. Yes, a series of hash-tagged #DeadPoolinChennai has taken social media by storm over the last two days.

The series has the red spandex-sporting,  (anti)-hero photoshopped into various locations in the city. They show him doing everything from striking a cool pose on the Marina to dancing to dappankutthu with children. One even had him holding a bottle in front of the quintessential TASMAC. Other images show him waiting in front of a samosa shop, asking politician Vijaykanth for directions and even making a run to catch the evening bus along with students.

The series was created by Chennai-based movie merchandising firm @FullyFilmy_in, which put Deadpool into the shoes of everyday Chennaiites. The series has gone viral with several thousand hits and is gaining momentum even now.

After actress Shruthi Haasan Instagrammed these pictures, there has been no stopping Deadpool from smashing into everyone’s social media home pages — there have been 21,500 likes and 23,500 posts with the hashtag.

“We’re huge film buffs who believe in content marketing rather than following traditional methods. More often than not, our city finds its way into everything that we do...including Deadpool!” shared team ‘Fully Filmy’.

Normally Superheroes are portrayed as super-powerful Gods who can do no wrong and that’s where Deadpool stands out. “He has his own flaws, a twisted sense of humour, some serious guts and a ‘badass’ spirit. The series took us just about five hours to create, out which 1.5 hours were taken to just crack the complete idea and collect reference pictures. We rolled out the series on February 17 at around 5:30pm. In 10 minutes, it picked up momentum! The rest, as they say, is history,” added the team.

If you thought Deadpool’s Chennai adventures ended there, don’t fret; there’s more. There are even photo-shopped images of him getting prasadam from a temple and doing paal abhishekam for Superstar Rajinikanth.

Twitter user Sabari Prabu tweeted to the flick’s hero Ryan Reynolds, “How about you try these ideas for #Deadpool 2 mate?”
