CHENNAI: In a major overhaul, the Home Department on Sunday announced the promotions and transfers of 16 IPS officers following which North, West and South police zones of Greater Chennai Police are set to get new Joint Commissioners of Police (JCP) along with a Traffic (South) JCP.
Four Joint Commissioners of Police (JCP) serving in the city were transferred and posted as range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) across the State.
The outgoing officers from the city police are - R.Dhinakaran (JCP-North), A.Arun (JCP-South), Najmul Hoda (JCP-West) and P.Nagarajan (JCP-Traffic (south).
Anna Nagar Deputy Commissioner K.Joshi Nirmal Kumar was promoted and would take over as JCP-North while DIG, Tirunelveli range, T.S.Anbu was transferred to the city to take over from A.Arun as Joint Commissioner (South), a release said.
Dhinakaran was posted at Tirunelveli and Arun as DIG,Tiruchirapalli range in the existing vacany.
The Superintendent of Police, TN Commando force, Santosh Kumar, was promoted as DIG and would be replacing Najmul Hoda as JCP-West. Najmul would take over as DIG-Kancheepuram, the release added.
Furthermore, Chennai Metro Rail Limited’s Chief Security Officer K.Bhavaneeshwari was promoted as DIG and posted as JCP-Traffic (south) replacing P.Nagarajan who has been posted as DIG-Salem range.
SP Now DCP
Following the promotion of incumbent DCP, K.Joshi Nirmal Kumar as DIG, the Home department appointed SP Rupesh Kumar Meena as the new DCP of Anna Nagar. Rupesh Kumar Meena was serving as Superintendent of Police with the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Central range, Chennai
CMRL gets new CSO
Superintendent of Police A.Kayalvizhi was on Sunday posted as the new Chief Security Officer of the Chennai Metro Rail Limited.
According to a release from the Home Department, Kayalvizhi would be taking over from K.Bhavaneeshwari who was promoted as DIG and posted as Joint Commissioner with the city police. Kayalvizhi was serving as SP with the TN Uniform Services Recruitment Board (TNUSRB) in the city.
Other postings
S.Paner Selvam, who was serving as the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic (West) was promoted and posted as DIG,TNUSRB, Chennai while another SP, G.Karthikeyan, who was the principal of Police Training College in Chennai, was promoted and posted as DIG, Dindigul range.
Salem DIG Vidya Jayant Kulkarni was transferred to the city as DIG, CB-CID, a release said.
Further, three State cadre officers on deputation with the Government of India -S.Kapil Kumar Saratkar, Dr.N.Kannan and P.C.Thenmozhi - were also issued promotion orders, the official press release further said.
