CHENNAI: Hailing the greatness of fasting during the holy month of Ramadhan, Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa said it ensures purity of mind and body simultaneously and this in turn, would ultimately help charity and love blossom among people.

Speaking at the Ifthar party hosted by her here, she said fasting and Ifthar signified charity and love. “Where there is love, there will be humanness and where there is humanness, there will be harmony; and harmony will lead to all good things,” she said and recalled that the Almighty had promised that those who undertake fasting during Ramadhan month would be personally rewarded by Him.

Extending her Ramzan greetings to the Muslims in advance, the AIADMK general secretary thanked all leaders and religious heads who took part in the Ifthaar party. AIADMK presidium chairman, E Madhusudanan, State ministers, including Labour Minister Nilofer Kabil,  Chief Kazi (Sunni) Salahuddin Mohammed Ayub, Chief Kazi (Shia), Moulana Ghulam Mohammed Mehdi Khan, Prince of Arcot, Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali and his wife, Jeelani Begum Saheba, Bishop M Prakash, Synod of the Independent Churches of India and Chairman of the Tamil Nadu Minorities Commission, Tamil Mahan Hussain, Chairman, Tamil Nadu Wakf Board, Anwar Razza, secretary, Minorities Wing of the AIADMK, Anna Road Dargah trustee, Haji Syed Moinuddin, AIADMK MPs, MLAs, functionaries, AISMK founder R Sarathkumar, RPI leader CK Thamizharasan, Manithaneya Jananayka  Katchi leader Thamimun Ansari and many dignitaries from Muslim community were among those who were present.
