CHENNAI: A massive power outage, almost throughout Saturday, was reported in several localities of the city.hased manner.

In an early morning incident which disrupted power supply in northern Chennai, feeder lines from the 230-KV Tondairpet sub-station developed faults. After attending to it, EB personnel finally managed to restore power in the afternoon. However, soon another incident,reported from the southern Chennai, knocked off the supply in that part as well. Several areas such as Nanganallur, Neelankarai, and Madipakkam went without power.

An Electricity Board official said, “The feeder lines from the 230-KV Tondairpet substation developed fault due to an overheating on account of full load. It required manual work to rectify the problem. Also since all 230-KV substations are interlinked, the problem had a cascading effect on the lines from the Taramani substation as well. Power was being restored to affected regions in a phased manner.”

Meanwhile, residents faced a hard time coping with the power outage on a very warm day. Several took to social media expressing their dismay over the disruption with some of them reporting outage for 10 hours at stretch. Senior citizen V Ramachandran, a resident of Adyar, said
