CHENNAI: There are many religions in the world that talk of man’s first disobedience, and the fruit of the forbidden tree, whose mortal taste brought death into the world and due to which paradise was lost. The humans were condemned to a life of toil, pain and death. However, nobody has gone really deep into this subject of sin that man committed that brought us to this state of woe? Was it disobedience of Almighty’s law or violation of divine code of conduct?
According to saints and spiritualists, this fatal disobedience by man took place when his consciousness shifted from the soul to the body. Also a lot of religious books have mentioned that when the divine beings ate the forbidden fruit of body consciousness, lust overcame their mind thereby bringing immense misery to their lives. Hence, the one who conquers lust can conquer the world. Conquering lust is the highest qualification to divinity and that is why those who attain victory over lust are shown with a crown of light and are entitled to be addressed as ‘His or Her Holiness’.
In order to conquer lust we must remedy the root cause of our fall which is body consciousness. When we transgress the fundamental spiritual truth that we are divine souls and not physical bodies, we loose all divine powers and began to indulge in sensual pleasures. So, re-awakening our consciousness to the original state of truth and purity by practising soul consciousness and remembering Almighty with a true heart will absolve all the sins. The soul consciousness means to revere god’s image in the self, that is, to see god’s qualities in the self and value them. The road to heaven is paved with good deeds and the road to hell is paved with bad intentions. It’s up to us to choose the path of our choice.
