CHENNAI: Founder and managing director of Chennai-based builder Casa Grande K R Anerudan was arrested on Wednesday based on a complaint of cheating and forgery by another construction company, which had partnered it in a villa project at Perungudi.
According to complainant B Kulasekar, managing director of Kayes Estate, Anerudan allegedly forged documents and fraudulently obtained planning permission for a villa project executed by the two companies in partnership.
The dispute over the project had been pending before the Madras High Court for the last few years and Kayes Estates allegedly had not been able to sell its share of the villas due to certain irregularities in the planning permission.
Police officers investigating the case said Kulasekar recently filed a complaint against Anerudan. “When we checked the documents, we found prima facie evidence of forgery,” said an officer. Anerudan was produced before a magistrate court later in the evening and remanded in 15 days judicial custody.
