CHENNAI: It’s intriguing when you meet someone who creates magic using soap bubbles. Agustin Vigilione (36) from Argentina is visiting indian for the first time, and is in Chennai to amaze you with his soap bubble tricks. Widely known as the ‘bubble artist’, he first saw the magic trick in 1995, when he saw a magician performing it.

“I was 14… I saw him performing small acts using soap bubbles. That’s when I decided to learn this and master it,” says the artist who has been performing for 22 years. “I consider soap bubble art to be the most beautiful thing in this world. I always wanted to work with something that would amuse me and every time I work with soap bubbles, it makes me happy.”

However, following his heart was not a smooth journey.  “I had approached many people to help me with the formula for preparing the bubble. But I never got any responses. I researched for five years, and found the formula by trial and error method,” he recalls. “The ingredients were not available in my country and I had to import them, and that was difficult. But it’s worth it...I will never reveal the formula to anyone.”

While continuing with his research, he first showcased his skill at a family event in 1997; he was 16. “People loved it and approached me for their friends’ events. My family and friends had never heard of this art form. So they were amazed when they saw my first bubble art,” he says. However, it took him couple of years more to become successful. “From 2006, there has been no looking back for me,” he smiles.

Even after so many years of experience, the artist is as dedicated to his work now as he was when he began. “I make sure to practice at least five hours a day,” avers the winner of The Magic and Arts Convention (2002), held in Argentina.

The artist will perform at Phoenix MarketCity till August 13. For details call 66513007
