CHENNAI: Reiterating his demand for the Governor to order a floor test in Tamil Nadu Assembly in the wake of 19 MLAs of TTV Dhinakaran faction withdrawing support to Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, DMK working president M K Stalin said the delay would lead to horse-trading and manoeuvring.

“It is apparent that the move of the Speaker to take action against the 19 dissenting MLAs is to save Edappadi Palaniswami’s ‘minority government’. In such a situation each day the Governor delays ordering a floor test will lead to horse-trading and manoeuvring,” he rued in a statement on Friday.
Coming down heavily on the Assembly Speaker P  Dhanapal for issuing notice to the dissenting MLAs, he said Dhanapal had done it only at the instigation of the Chief Minister.

Criticising the Governor for his stoic silence on the issue of the MLAs withdrawing support to Palaniswami, Stalin said that high courts and Supreme Court had in the past delivered verdicts stressing that the majority of a government should be proved in the Assembly and not at Raj Bhavan.
Earlier, speaking to reporters, he said his party would legally face the issue of breach of privilege for taking gutka packets into the House.
