Not just another game list

CHENNAI: It is sad to see all this RAM and internal memory wasted on loading “Good morning” pictures on Whatsapp. Instead, we should use it on a good videogame. The mark of a good android game for casual usage is for it to be playable offline, not be graphic heavy, and hopefully free to download.

So, here’s an updated list — not one with the normal videogames that everyone has; these games are non-mainstream enough for you to feel cool while playing them. They also provide the advantage of easing the disgust of being stuck on level 141 on Candy Crush.

Cube Escape Cave
The Cube Escape series has always made the top of my lists. ‘Cave’, which came out recently is the most eerie and mind-boggling puzzle yet. At one point, the game had me scooping dog poop and examining the bacteria in it to uncover a clue. The dark surreality in the game logic, and the artwork is enough to want you to play more.

No Stranger
This isn’t as much a game as it is an interactive experience. It takes place in a fictional interface where you text a fictional person, and your responses guide the story forward. It does get a little eerie, and it is interesting to see how they tackle delicate issues through conversation. If you like this, you must try “Her Story” as well.

Traffic Rider
A deviation from the above dreary suggestions, this is fast paced and fun! It’s easy to get good at this racing game, and once you do, it’s hard to stop playing it until you’ve unlocked all the new bikes and
race tracks.

Burrito Bison
This a fun throwback to when Zapak games were all the rage. An infinitely-bouncing platformer, it hardly needs any technique as does practise. The cartoon art, jolly colours, fun power-ups and the wrestling with gummy bears makes for a good diversion.

Badland
This is one of the best physics-based platformers that has been around for a while. It is reminiscent of ‘Limbo’, in that it you must interact with silhouetted objects in your path. And if the campaign mode isn’t enough, they also have the option of playing on local multiplayer!
