4 Rajasthan men held for helping kin loot gold shop

The city police arrested four persons from Rajasthan, who had allegedly helped their relatives loot a jewellery shop by drilling a hole through its roof at Rajamangalam.

CHENNAI: The city police arrested four persons from Rajasthan, who had allegedly helped their relatives loot a jewellery shop by drilling a hole through its roof at Rajamangalam.Police identified the suspects as Chennaram, father of C Nathuram (28), main suspect, and his relatives Ellaram, Shankar Lal and Dauram. Police have launched a search for Nathuram (28), a native of Pali district in Rajasthan, and Dinesh Chowdary (20) of Jodhpur district.

Investigation revealed that the four accused had drilled a hole in the roof of the shop from where the main suspects, Nathuram and Dinesh, decamped with jewels and the CCTV camera.
On November 16, Mukesh, owner of the jewellery shop at Rajamangalam, and his father went for lunch at around 1 pm and returned at 4 in the evening. They were shocked to find 3.5 kg of gold, 4.5 kg of silver and `2 lakh in cash missing in the shop.

“A few days before the incident, two north Indians visited the jewellery shop run by Mukesh to rent the first floor of the building to start a textile business. The duo also gave an advance of `30,000 and began inspecting the interior of the shop,” said investigation officer.

“Noticing that the owners were away, they decided to break into the shop during lunch,” added the officer.  The officer said the men were identified with the help of CCTV footage available in nearby buildings.
Based on a tip-off, a special team went to Rajasthan where they nabbed the four men from a village in Pali district. The main suspects are still at large.
