BS Ganesh
A Class 9 student of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Ganesh has been painting since his childhood. Until three years ago, he focused on cartoons. In the academy, he started doing life painting and still life. His collection for this exhibition mainly consists of still life and portraits, “I click pictures while travelling and then paint them later,” he said. His favourite in the collection for the exhibition was the still painting of a boat on the shores of a beach. “I like still life painting and prefer subjects like the boat over portraits.” The young painter has received compliments for his art works and on a few occasions was requested by people to draw their portrait. He aspires to be a painter when he grows up. “I admire the works of Raja Ravi Varma and wish to be a painter like him one day.”

Preetha Krishnan
An architecture graduate Preetha Krishnan was introduced to the world of sculpting, when she was in her third year during a trip to Auroville with friends. “I saw a girl at the ceramic factory passionately creating a pot with clay. Her passion made me want to try my hand at the art,” she shares.  Her works for the exhibition include a male muscular anatomy among others and was appreciated by other artists for the same. She uses clay modelling while creating architectural models and structure and this has garnered her attention from other architects. She wishes to set up a teaching unit for pottery and sculpting in future. “I have already started an online studio in the name called ‘Art ‘O’ Arch’ which combines two of my passions. The registration and studio work is in progress at Coimbatore.”

Deepika Ravikumar
She is an avid traveller and a budding photographer. Her photos displayed in the exhibition is focused mainly on street photography. “I love to click people and our heritage and prefer street photography over other genres. Street photography shows a lot of emotions and moods,” she says. Her passion for photography led her to the academy to improve her techniques. Eighteen months later, Deepika finds her skills as a photographer evolved. “I travel a lot and click random pictures that catch my eye. There came a point when I realised I wanted to be serious about it and improve my skills.” An aspiring travel and street photographer, she is currently exploring all art forms including traditional paintings and their nuances through her lens.“I want to take this as a profession and explore indoor photography along with street and travel photography.”

Varsha Chella
She developed an interest in pottery and ceramics when she came across the works of Eva Zeisel, mid-century industrial designer. “Her work showed the expressive potential of the medium and kindled an interest in me to learn the art form.” The aspiring architect then learned nuances of pottery and ceramics. Her works for the exhibition include ceramic utensils. Talking about it she says, “Majority of my work was done within a span of four to five weeks. The experience was rewarding in itself as it helped me experiment with a range of forms,” she says. The artist wishes to develop her skills and is currently practising pottery for the same.
