CHENNAI: A fire broke out in a bogie stationed at Chennai Central railway station on Thursday evening. Fire and rescue services put it out in an hour. The cause of the fire is yet to be established.
The bogie, along with two others, was generally used for rushing tools and medical aid in an emergency. It was stationed at the yard near platform 11 when the fire started around 3 pm.

Naveen Gulati, General Manager, Infrastructure, railways, confirmed  there was no casualty.
The railways website showed that almost five trains were delayed from 20 minutes to an hour. However,  railway officials said traffic was not affected because of the incident.

Some technicians said the fire could have occurred because of voltage fluctuation. The burnt materials in the bogie were cleared and the coach taken for repair.
