CHENNAI: In an unfortunate incident, a one-year-old boy accidentally fell into a bucket of water at his house and died on Tuesday, his birthday, even as his family was preparing for the celebrations.

The boy was identified as Rohan. As the family was busy preparing for his birthday celebrations, he was found  upside down in a bucket filled with water.

“Around 4 pm, the boy was playing in one of the bedrooms, where there was a bucket filled with water. Rohan’s mother was feeding his elder sister who is two-and-a-half-years old, while father Murali was attending to the relatives. When the mother searched for Rohan, she found that he had fallen upside down inside the bucket and drowned”,  said police sources.

Police said the boy who was playing in the house is believed to have peeped into the bucket, when he lost his balance and fell into it.

His parents rushed him to the KMC Hospital where doctors declared him ‘brought dead’. The Sembium police have registered a case and are investigating.
