Not enough time for lengthy CBSE maths paper: Angry students
CHENNAI: As CBSE conducted the plus 2 Maths exam on Monday, there were mixed reactions from students regarding the paper. While some students said it was easy albeit lengthy, others said it was a moderate one. Many were unable to finish the paper.
The paper consisted of four sections and a majority of students found section D the lengthiest, taking an hour to finish it. “I left around 4 marks to 5 marks from section A as I started with section D which took one hour and at last touched section A. I couldn’t even attempt those questions and the time was over,” said a student adding that her friends whoever started with section A were unable to finish section D and have left as much as 6 marks. Section D consisted of 6 mark questions from chapters like Integration, relations and functions and differentiation."
A student from Maharishi Vidya Mandir Senior secondary school said even though she had left two to three marks, she expected to score high. The paper was overall easy, but lengthy and I left some three marks. But I hope to score 80 and above,” she said.
Further, some indicated that the paper was a bit difficult. Vishal D Mehta of Chinmaya Vidyalaya said one or two questions from the chapter Probability were tricky. “For an average student, the paper was a moderate one. While integration was easiest, in probability one or two questions were ambiguous. We needed to think a lot. I expect 85 and above,” he said.
Another student from same school found questions from the chapter Increasing and Decreasing to be difficult. “In this portion lot of thinking was required,” he said.
Due to shortage of time, many students could not revise their paper. “I finished the paper, but I could hardly get time to revise. Due to less time I completed in a hurry but I don’t know whether I had committed any mistake,” said another student.
However, there were some students who could finish the paper half an hour early. “I found it very easy, even though it was lengthy, I finished half an hour early,” said N Arjun a student of Sindhi Model School.
