CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has directed the Neyveli Lignite Corporation India Limited to implement its promise of offering jobs to 50 per cent of the land evictees against the vacancies in unskilled categories.
Justice S M Subramaniam issued the directive on September 12 while disposing of a writ petition from NLC Jeeva Oppantha Thozhilalargal Sangam, Cuddalore.
The judge said that in view of the counter-affidavit filed, specifically para 13, the authorities were bound to implement the agreed conditions to recruit 50 per cent of the land evictees. It was for them to monitor the implementation of these agreements in letter and spirit.
