CBI nabs Kendriya Vidyalaya school Principal for accepting bribe for admission of dalit student

Kendriya Vidyalaya School Principal was arrested while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from a parent to provide first standard admission under SC/ST quota.

CHENNAI: The CBI sleuths have arrested the principal of Kendra Vidyalaya, Ashok Nagar on Monday night on charges of demanding a bribe for an admission in the school. 

The arrested has been identified as E Ananthan, principal of KV, Ashok Nagar. 

Sources said that the principal had demanded a bribe of Rs one lakh from one Rajendran for the admission for his son to Class I. 

"The dalit student was to be enrolled under the Right to Education Act, for which the principal had demanded the bribe. He was nabbed when he was receiving the tainted money," said the source. 

The CBI officials arrested the Principal, while accepting the money, and took him to Shastri Bhavan office here. Further interrogation is on whether he has taken money from any other parents.

After interrogation he will be produced before the court, the sources added.
