MA Chidambaram Stadium turns into fortress of 4,000 cops 

The city police are planning to turn the MAC Stadium into a fortress on Tuesday with 13 IPS officers and over 4,000 personnel exclusively allocated to take care of security around the stadium.

CHENNAI: The city police are planning to turn the MAC Stadium into a fortress on Tuesday with 13 IPS officers and over 4,000 personnel exclusively allocated to take care of security around the stadium as Chennai Super Kings takes on the Kolkata Knight Riders as their first home match upon return.“Due to the threat of protests, 13 Deputy Commissioners of Police, 7 Additional Deputy Commissioners of Police, 29 Assistant Commissioners of Police, 100 Inspectors and 4,000 armed reserve police personnel will be on guard for the stadium both inside and outside from the morning,”  Additional Commissioner, South, MC Sarangan told Express. Sarangan will be heading the entire security set-up.“Anyone involved in anti-social activities will be removed from the spot immediately. We appeal to the spectators to cooperate at many levels of checking they have to undergo,” he said.
