Man stabs college girl in Chennai's famed Anna Nagar Tower Park

The girl is said to have suffered six cut injuries and is undergoing a surgery. Sources said she suffered cut injuries in chest, stomach and shoulder.

CHENNAI: A college girl was allegedly stabbed multiple times by a man who is believed to be compelling her to continue relationship with him in Chennai's famous Anna Nagar Tower Park this afternoon.

The assailant, identified as one Rajesh and an engineering graduate, had subsequently hurt himself with the knife he was carrying, police sources said.

The girl is said to have suffered six cut injuries and is undergoing a surgery. Sources said she suffered cut injuries in chest, stomach and shoulder.

While Rajesh has suffered four cut injuries. It is learnt that he was working in a company in Coimbatore after finishing Electrical engineering in a college in Chennai.

The girl is said to be an M.Sc student and both of them has been hospitalised after the people present in the park alerted 108 ambulance.

Rajesh was said to be talking with the girl near a toilet in the park around 2.15 pm when he suddenly started attacking her. “People said they heard loud screams and rushed to see the boy holding the knife and both of them bleeding," said a police official.

A tea vendor nearby is said to have taken the girl to the near by private hospital and the boy to another hospital.

Police said from their enquiries they found that the two were school mates and know each other since then.

While he later studied engineering and passed out, the girl is going her post graduation in science. "Recently, they decided to end the relationship and had met in the park today," said a police officer.

The girl hails from Red Hills and Rajesh is a resident of Ponneri.

Chennai police have registered a case and are further probing.
