CHENNAI: Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Thursday released a coffee table album Jaya: An Incredible Story, brought out by The New Indian Express Group at a function in the Secretariat here to mark the late chief minister’s birth anniversary.

Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam received the first copy of the 108-page book in the presence of TNIE Group Chairman and Managing Director Manoj Kumar Sonthalia, veteran journalist T J S George who authored the book, TNIE Editor G S Vasu and Dinamani Editor K Vaidiyanathan.

The hard bound album is a compilation of photographs capturing the life and times of Jayalalithaa with interesting captions and annotations. While most of the pictures were taken by Express photographers, others were sourced from the government and individuals. The book opens by describing Jayalalithaa as destiny’s child, who was propelled by events from crisis to glory and triumph to tragedy. “She reigned like a Queen. When she left, there were millions to beat their breasts in mourning. There wasn’t one to succeed her. Was that, ultimately, triumph or tragedy?” the author wonders.
