AirAsia resume flight services from Chennai after three years

The airliner would operate five daily flights connecting Chennai to Bengaluru and Bhubaneshwar.

CHENNAI: Budget carrier AirAsia on Saturday resumed its flight services from Chennai after a three year gap.

Chennai was its 17th destination along with the induction of the 15th aircraft.

The Bengaluru-Chennai-Bhubaneswar flight touched down at the Chennai Airport and AirAsia MD and CEO Amar Abrol handed over the boarding pass to the first guest who checked in for the flight to Bhubaneswar.

From today, The airliner would operate five daily flights connecting Chennai to Bengaluru and Bhubaneshwar.

This included three daily between Chennai and Bangalore and two flights between Chennai and Bhubaneshwar.

Mr Amar Abrol said "we ended 2017 on a highly positive note and are delighted to continue the same momentum this year.'

''Chennai has always been close to our heart since we started off from there and has always been a popular route among guests.

We expect that flight services in Chennai Bhubaneswar route will boost religious and cultural tourism from both markets'', he added.
