CHENNAI: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly burnt his 85-year-old father to death after tying him to the cot and pouring petrol on him over a property dispute on Wednesday. He was later arrested. Police said K Thulasiraman Naidu was living in a two-storey house with his three sons and wife at Annai Sathya Nagar at Kolathur.

His youngest son Narasimhan, 46, had been demanding his father to sell off the property and give him a share so that he can start a new business in Andhra Pradesh. As Naidu was against selling the house, there were frequent quarrels. “On Wednesday, when the aged father was sleeping, Narasimhan allegedly tied him to the cot and set him on fire after pouring petrol. He escaped from the spot,” said a police source. He was declared dead at the hospital. Rajamangalam police arrested Narasimhan.
